Educational Goals & Objectives

CODEMED School of Professional Medical Coding provides a quality coding education, taught by certified and highly motivated instructors. We believe a solid foundation in knowledge, guidance, and hands-on experience in the coding field, will assist the students in fulfilling their role as a professional coding specialist, which is required to obtain successful employment. CODEMED will:
  • Continually improve coding education practices, curriculum, instruction, and learning resources.
  • Select professional faculty capable of motivating each student to their highest potential.
  • Assist with the growing demands of the healthcare industry in supplying qualified coding specialists.
ROLE OF THE CODING SPECIALIST:
The coding specialist will review and perform analysis of healthcare records, identifying pertinent diagnoses and procedures during each patient visit. The coding specialist is responsible for maintaining communication with the healthcare provider, to ensure that the appropriate translation of medical terms are correctly coded.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Career opportunities for the coding specialist are found in Hospitals, Managed Care, Long Term Care, Behavioral Health, Consulting and Law Firms, Ambulatory Care, Rehabilitation, Home Care, Skilled Nursing, Government Agencies, Insurance, Pharmaceutical, and Physician Practices.

JOB PLACEMENT
Our coding program includes a policy for job placement assistance for our graduates. We prepare students for job interviews, assist with resumes, list current job openings in coding, and show you how to conduct your own job searches. CODEMED continues to make every effort to assist graduates find that "just right job."

TUTORING
Individualized, complementary tutoring is available to all students throughout the program, in order to assist them in achieving their best performance.
